BOUDOIR MYTHS DEBUNKED!

Hey beautiful, I’m Olivia a boudoir photographer serving women in the Minneapolis area and I can’t wait to shoot with you and give you the most amazing images you have ever seen of yourself. So let’s get into some myths about boudoir photo shoots and why you shouldn’t pay them any thought.

I HAVE TO BE NAKED

Totally false. You are the driver in this car and I am the passenger or the really awesome GPS that tells you exactly how to get somewhere in the best way possible. Yeah, I’m definitely the GPS! 

You let me know what you are comfortable with and I will help you capture your vision. Or I will give advice and options that you might want to try or get out of your comfort zone to put on. But after so long of doing this I just know what’s going to look and shoot amazingly on you. While you may see flaws I only see the beauty and I’m a master at hiding the flaws you don’t love. Because as a woman I have my own flaws and it’s exactly what I want my boudoir photographer to do for me.

But most of my sessions are in lingerie, tops, sheets, and other items. Rarely do clients really want to shoot fully nude with everything(mostly nipples) showing. I consider myself a glamour boudoir photographer and tow the line between beauty glamour photography and boudoir and I love being here. It’s my happy space. And I have shot some boudoir photo shoots where my clients wear amazing dresses, or we start with a business look so they can get a killer headshot out of the day as well. So I’ll buckle up and let you take the wheel.

I’M NOT PERFECT

Like I said in my last myth debunked I am amazing at capturing you just as you are and making you look stunning. I get to know each of my clients and their insecurities. Then I tailor their shoot to make them feel as good as possible and accentuate the parts they love most about themselves. And I hide what we don’t love. Maybe that’s loose skin on our stomachs because we have carried babies. Maybe that’s your arms. But know you are in the right hands and beauty does not have an age, size, or mold you need to fit into.

WHAT IF PEOPLE JUDGE ME

Honestly, if someone is judging you for wanting to feel confident in your own body then they have their own personal issues they need to deal with. Women should lift each other up and support each other in whatever they want to do. A boudoir session is about self-love and acceptance of yourself. It is a very healing experience for most women, and the amount of confidence it has brought my clients is so amazing. I have personally seen how much someone’s mindset can change and start to love themselves after spending the day with me. I love calling myself your #1 Hype Girl! I’m your biggest cheerleader for sure.

Also, the amount of self-love I have experienced after my own boudoir sessions is massive. I have never felt so in love with my body as I do now and I have 2 beautiful babies that I carried and changed my body!

And if you don’t want to share your images then you can keep them completely private. But trust me you are gonna want to show there off! Any client that does want to keep their images private means no one buy myself and them will ever see them 🙂

I DON’T HAVE A PARTNER OR ANYONE TO GIVE THESE TOO

This is one I hear a lot and always say you don’t need anyone but yourself to do these for. Having confidence in your body just for you is so powerful. It might help you change your mind about your body, or about what you think you deserve. It will 100% make you love yourself more and give yourself more grace.

While it is nice to do this for a partner to show them that you love them and you are their person I always say it’s for your first and for them second. A day with me is also so much more than the photos. I have created a safe space for women to be unapologetically themselves. To discover who they are and explore these things about themselves. A space where there is zero judgment and only a huge amount of support, acceptance, and love. The photos are a fantastic momento of the day so you can look back on them and know you are amazing just as you are. They will bring you back and always remind you of that and give you more confidence than you ever thought.
