For your boudoir portraits, you want to look your best. You want to look glamorous and beautiful. You want to look like you, but just a little bit more extra than you do in your real life. We can achieve that through your boudoir portraits.
Here are a few tips for senior portraits to ensure your fashion, makeup, and hair is all on point:
Since you may be a little bummed at hearing this, you can wear one crazy accessory instead of wearing none at all. If you want to wear a crown, wear it. If you want to wear large cat-eye sunglasses, let’s do it. If you wear two crazy accessories, you’ll find those two competing against each other.
2. Keep our Makeup Simple
Your boudoir portraits will undergo retouching, so you most of my clients get a natural look and Amy is the best at a natural look! It always looks a bit strange when you see yourself with a full face of makeup and false lashes when you’re not used to wearing any, or not used to it being professionally done. But trust us you look amazing and everything gets kinda muted in photos so it has to be a little stronger than you’re used to. On camera, makeup reads a bit differently than it does in real life. This is why I think it’s better to go for simple makeup instead of elaborate makeup.
3. Consider Your Hair, Teeth, Skin, and Nails
You can whiten your teeth weeks before the boudoir photography session to brighten yoursmile. Again, we do touchups, so your skin will be blemish-free, but you can take extrameasures to keep your skin looking as flawless as you can.
As for your nails, a manicure is your answer. If your toes are going to make it in the picture, go for a pedicure. One piece of advice I would give you is not to request Amy to style your hair in a way that takes away from your personality or something totally out of the box for you. If we do something you aren’t used to seeing you probably won’t love your photos as much. Most ofmy ladies like soft beach waves, my favorite as well they look amazing when the wind blows your hair, when you are combing your fingers through it 🙂
4. Don’t Make Any Drastic Changes in Your Appearance
When I say drastic changes in your appearance, I mean don’t go for a tan or change your hair color, going from red to bleach blonde. Also, don’t get a major haircut because if you end up not liking it, there’s no going back.
If you really want to see how a certain hairstyle will look on you, wear a wig. If the wig suits you, you can then get a similar haircut. Otherwise, stay as you are and experiment with your style later after the boudoir photography session.
5. Don’t Wear Anything that Makes You Self-Conscious
You don’t want to appear looking uncomfortable in the pictures. If you wear an outfit that makes you self-conscious, the pictures will not come out as good as you want them to. I want you to have fun and be confident during the photo shoot.
